Margaret Kelly MCCH Margaret Kelly is an experienced and caring Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. Though originally born in Victoria, her home has been on the sunny Gold Coast in Queensland for many years now. Her initial formal training was in Psychology, studying for and obtaining her Bachelor of Behavioural Science at La Trobe University. In the 1980s, Margaret worked as a supervisor and trainer of counsellors for Jenny Craig’s in Australia, and went to the USA for the company to open new centres in LA, Chicago and New Orleans. She also has a strong background in sales, management and recruitment, as well as a being a Corporate Trainer.
Always interested in helping people, she learned alternative techniques of healing before meeting her mentor, Tom Johnstone, in 1995. After seeing the power and effectiveness of hypnotherapy first hand, she gave up her Corporate Training, and has devoted herself to the practice of hypnotherapy. Margaret trained through the Australasian College of Hypnosis and Healing Therapies, a New Zealand college recognised by the NZ Guild and that was expanding into Australia. In 1995 she obtained her Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy. Tom Johnstone took Margaret on as his protégé to pass on his 20 years of experience n the field, and continued to train her until his death in late 1998. As co-founder of the Australian College of Clinical Hypnotherapy, Margaret is the director of this private Queensland College that specialises in training mature adults in the practicalities of treating clients with ‘down to earth’ clinical hypnotherapy. In her Burleigh practice, Margaret deals with a range of client issues, from smoking to anxiety and stress conditions, drug/alcohol/gambling addictions, and relationship issues. She has worked in the area of peak performance, helping elite athletes prepare for competition and has helped patients prepare for surgery and their post operative recovery. She also helps business owners take control of their business, and other professionals improve their performance. Aside from running her practice, Margaret also holds various positions of responsibility within the profession including her roles on the management committee of the Clinical Hypnotherapists Council of Australia (CHCA) and as President of HAQ (professional peak body for QLD). She is a member of Council of Clinical Hypnotherapists (CCH) and a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist with the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE), and lectured at the International Hypnotherapy Conference in Glendale California in 1998. She is also currently a member of the working party helping to form a unified national body for the profession in Australia. In between all of this, it is believed she may be working on her golf swing (but the word is she is better off in the office than on the golf course!) Margaret is dedicated, passionate and serious about her work. After working with thousands of clients, she still firmly believes that every client is different, and that their therapy must be tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. Her therapeutic training in conjunction with her varied background in the commercial world, and her own life challenges, have equipped her with insight and knowledge to successfully deal with a wide variety of clients and their presenting issues. |
