Review of Peter Smith's Seminar: “Life Between Lives” at the CCH General Meeting, February 11th, 2007 By Julia Lyons
Peter Smith A most interesting talk was given by Peter Smith at the CCH General meeting on February 11th during which he shared with us his passion for and experience of working with clients using a transpersonal modality pioneered in the USA by Michael Newton called “Life Between Lives”.
Michael Newton’s ideas are generating a lot of interest internationally and Peter is the representative for Michael Newton’s work here in Australia.
He sees many clients who come to him to have an LBL session hoping to gain clarity in various life issues, find their life purpose or simply to achieve more personal growth on their life path. Peter described the experience as highly personal and has found that the Life Between Lives (LBL) methodology can help with a variety of issues and promote personal empowerment. The approach described by Peter takes clients into an experience of their spiritual selves during which they are able to journey through an awareness of a world between lives where they can talk to guides, discover the people in their current life and what their meaning to them is on a spiritual level. Peter presented extracts from actual recordings of clients he has worked with as they described their experiences during their journey. It takes about 4 hours for an LBL session, as much preparation work is done in assisting the client to access a deep level of Theta, as well as allowing the client time to feel and experience the journey through a past life, and out again to be able to enter the spiritual space between lives. According to Peter, “An LBL session can be a life changing experience for the client, and many case studies have been outlined in Michael Newton’s books “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”. LBL sessions are useful in discovering one’s life mission and purpose, why certain people and situations enter into one’s life and to understand your existence from a soul perspective.” Different theories of consciousness have long fascinated researchers and Peter is keenly involved in a research study being conducted at Monash University by PhD student Hitomi Akamatsu, which includes an investigation of transpersonal experiences and how counselling professionals can assist individuals with their spiritual needs. The way in which the LBL concept will resonate with an individual is, indeed, “individual” and those who attended this seminar enjoyed the opportunity to ponder the ideas presented. Our thanks to Peter for presenting a very thought-provoking session. |
