CCH President Alan Stubenrauch
"A warm welcome to this first issue of ‘Perspectives’, the quarterly newsletter of the Council of Clinical Hypnotherapists.

It has, indeed, been a year of ‘firsts’ for the CCH: our first Annual General Meeting and Conference; our first official members and our first affiliations in place with some of the major Australian clinical hypnotherapy associations.

We are also in the process of finalising an international strategic alliance with The Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy and we have some exciting professional development activities planned for the coming year with our first international guest presenter, Roy Hunter, coming to Melbourne in early March.

During the past two and a half years since the CCH concept came into being, some have questioned why my colleagues and I on the interim committee would be prepared to bring so much passion, time and energy to such a vast undertaking. When we first started out, we were faced with the possibility of Clinical Hypnotherapy becoming involuntarily regulated by non-hypnotherapists and so a large part of the impetus to form the CCH arose out of a need to provide a much-needed vehicle for unity and voluntary self-regulation of our profession.

he CCH is a national ‘Council’ which is separate from but operates comfortably alongside the existing professional associations and as a national representative body, we can have a single voice in all relevant arenas. This will be of enormous benefit, not only to our professional members but also to their clients, especially in pertinent areas such as professional standards and health fund rebates.

The CCH mission statement ) encapsulates our vision and objectives, and in only three months since our inaugural AGM, our continually growing membership has already increased from 17 to almost 80 members.

There can be no clearer indication that Clinical Hypnotherapists around Australia were ready and listening out for 'A Voice for Professional Hypnotherapy.'"
