Joane Goulding accepts a Certificate of Recognition

Joane Goulding was acknowledged at the CCH Special Tribute as a woman of energy, warmth, persistence and knowledge.

I have known Joane since the late 1980’s when I entered the Australian Academy of Hypnotic Science to start the Certificate Course in Clinical Hypnosis. That day was to start a career and passion that still grows, nurtured by the mentorship of Jim and Joane Goulding.

Also honoured by Jeff Berger, Les Bullock and Julie Lorenz, we all agreed that Joane was unquestionably the powerhouse of the Academy and of its clinical base, Kordover House. When I met Joane, both Jim and Joane had already been fighting and lobbying the authorities for 15 years to have the restrictions on the practice of hypnosis lifted.  It took another 10 years of prosecution, struggle, lobbying and writing of complex submissions before the restrictions were finally lifted in 1998, opening the doors to caring practitioners to help their clients openly.

Many people underestimate the learning curve required, the long hours late at night, the pain, worry and financial stress that battle inflicted on Jim and Joane. Over those years Joane became the driving force that ran the Academy and Clinic on a daily basis. She did everything from running the advertisements (that attracted my attention) to write, print and present the course design and content. And she always made time to stop for a cuppa and welcome any student or client who dropped in for help or healing, providing warmth, care and understanding. Kordover House was always filled with laughter, thanks to Joane.

The World Who’s Who of Women

Joane was also the developer of the brilliant Sleep Talk Therapy. After spending many years teaching parents how to help their children with behaviour modification, Joane’s book is now spreading around the world with interest from other countries and modalities growing.

And today Joane’s dedication to helping others continues through her energetic involvement with the Executive of the CCH. On the day, to add to the many respected accolades she has already achieved, she was awarded a Honorary Life Member of the ASCH, a Certificate of Appreciation of the CCH and love and respect of all those whose lives have been touched by her. Thank you Joane from all of us, for your persistence, knowledge, mentoring and friendship.
