Daryl Wilkinson

“Fantastic”, “truly professional”, “excellent”, “loved it” were just a few of the comments made by those who attended the CCH “voice” workshop on June 1st.

And who better to present a workshop of this kind than Daryl Wilkinson, considered by many to have “one of the best voices in the business” – if that’s the right phrase to use – and whose extensive experience in educating actors in the use of voice mean that he is certainly eminently qualified in this area.

As therapists we are often so busy studying and attending seminars and workshops about new methods and approaches, not to mention keeping up to speed with research in such fields as neuroscience and psychoneuroimmunology, that it’s easy to neglect the fundamental tool of our trade, namely our voice!

Unfortunately I was unable to attend this workshop myself but the feedback received indicated quite clearly that it was a most worthwhile day during which Daryl presented much useful information including exercises and techniques that could be practised to optimise vocal delivery and further develop voice capability. Those who attended reported coming away with a much heightened awareness of the importance of “voice” in their work and others like me who were unable to attend are keen to ask Daryl to present this workshop again!

In addition to wishing to report on the feedback received regarding Daryl’s valuable knowledge in this area and his talent and skill as a presenter, I would also like his generosity to the profession to be acknowledged: as a gesture of support to the CCH and to the profession, Daryl donated all the proceeds from this workshop to the CCH as a contribution towards CCH’s funding of its sponsorship of the 2008 National Hypnotherapy & Counselling Expo.
